David Nefouse is the new president of the Manteca Historical Society and Museum.

He’s the City Attorney for the City of Manteca, having joined Manteca in 2021 after working at the Office of the County Counsel, County of San Mateo, for over five years.

Nefouse has a love for local history, learning about the need for volunteers – in particular, the Museum officers – by reading about it in the Bulletin.

“David responded to the call and is very excited about the Museum’s future,” said board member Mary Del Pino.

He was praised for his great organizational skills along with foreseeing the many possibilities for events for the local museum in terms of benefiting the community while insuring the longevity of the Historical Society and the Museum.

Nefouse was unanimously selected to the position for the 2024-2025 year.

Ditto that for Vicki Miller, who was elected by the board to serve as vice president for the upcoming year.

She’s served as a docent for the Museum for past 10 years and has participated and coordinated many for events for the Manteca Historical Society and Museum.

Board members thanked both her and Nefouse for stepping up and volunteering their service – they’re still looking to fill the position of Sergeant-at-Arms, which remains vacant.

Wednesday, October 2 the Manteca Historical Society and Museum will be opening its doors for an Open House and Membership Drive from on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Open House and Membership Drive is free to the public.

Refreshments will be served free of charge.

There will be docents and board members present to give museum tours that evening.

New memberships will be gladly taken at the Open House.
