Music on Maple goes country for July 18 event in downtown

Line dancing will be part of the fun when Manteca Recreation & Community Services stages the next Music on Maple event on Thursday, July 18.

The event in the 100 block of Maple Avenue in downtown also features food trucks, vendors as well as children’s games and activities. It starts at 6 p.m.

The live music will feature popular country hits.

There is a prize for those that impress judges with the best country attire.

Junior Lifeguard Aquatics

Camp & free open swim day

A Junior Lifeguard Aquatics camp teaching basic safety and water techniques is planned for  July 15 thru July 18.

Campers will build stamina through swimming and games. They will also learn water safety and basic rescue techniques. Students should be comfortable swimming independently in deep water. Although it is taught by certified lifeguards, it is not a certification class.

Registration includes a T-shirt.

The cost is $125 for residents and $135 for non-residents.

There is a free open swim day planned for Saturday, July 27, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Lincoln Pool.

The event will have activities such as games, lifeguard demonstrations and prizes.
