Museum plans Easter egg hunt & games

The 1927 American La France engine is on display at the Manteca museum.

The first-ever “Easter Eggs-travaganza” is planned for Saturday, March 30, in the parking lot of the Manteca Historical Museum, 600 W. Yosemite Ave.

The community is invited to attend this event hosted by the Manteca Historical Society and Manteca Museum, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission to the “Easter Eggs-travaganza” is free. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

“Of course, the day’s event will have an Easter Egg Hunt, with two staggered hunts based on the age group,” said Mary Del Pino of the Manteca Historical Society.

One will be for children ages 3 to 6 while the other will be for those ages 7 through 10.

Among the games and activities will be “Pin the Tail on the Bunny,” “Find the Egg in the Hay,” “Easter Bonnet Contest,” and the “Easter Egg Parade Walk”

Added Del Pino: “The last game is similar to the old-fashioned Cake Walk – participants walk around a numbered circle to music and when the music stops, you are standing on a number.

“In this game, instead of winning a cake, you will win a large golden or bright colored egg filled with candy and prizes.”

As for food, “Easter Egg-travaganza” will be selling a hotdog meal with chips and soda for $5. Free popcorn will be on hand for those in attendance.

In addition, the museum and gift shop will be open for viewing.

The Manteca Historical Museum operates strictly through volunteers and memberships. Cost for the latter is $15 per year and $5 per year for a student membership.
