The Manteca Police Department is currently investigating a murder-suicide that occurred on Monday, April 10, that left two young children without their parents.
According to the agency, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Davis Street just east of the Manteca city hall campus for the report of a deceased female just before 12:30 p.m.
When officers and medics arrived, they located the deceased female and called in detectives to begin investigating.
Detectives that responded to the scene very quickly determined that the woman was the victim of a homicide, and the suspect was her husband who had fled the scene.
Two small children were found in the residence and taken to the Manteca Police Department before they were handed over to Child Protective Services.
The agency was contacted by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office on Monday evening after they discovered a male subject that had taken his own life. Officers were able to determine that the male discovered was the suspect in the murder that occurred in Manteca earlier that day.
The names of the parties involved in the incident are not being released by authorities at this time as an investigation is still ongoing.
The murder is Manteca’s second of 2023 after an incident on Primavera Avenue in February resulted in the death of one person.
