Monster Mash tonight In Lathrop for youngsters

A family sported ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ look at last weekend’s ‘Spooktacular’ Halloween event at the Lathrop Generations Center. Next up is ‘Kids Night Out’ on Friday (Oct. 25) and ‘Parent & Me’ on Oct. 30.

Lathrop will be hosting a pair of Halloween events.

Today (Friday) is ‘Kids Night Out-Monster Mash’ from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lathrop Generations Center, 450 Spartan Way, for children age 5 through 12.

Cost is $35 per youngster and includes pizza, refreshments, sweet treats, and the movie ‘Monster House.’

The ‘Kids Night Out’ event will also feature games, crafts, activities, and the annual costume contest.

The “Parent & Me” Spooktacular will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

“It’s the perfect way to enjoy some quality time together while getting into the Halloween,” the City of Lathrop said Thursday via social media.

Cost for “Parent & Me” – scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Lathrop Generations Center  – is $25 per child.

Parent / guardian participation is required.

Those in attendance can engage in themed sensory activities along with craft games and listening to Halloween story time as read out aloud by the recreation staff.

Art Exploration

Young artists age 5 through 12 can dive into a world of creativity, exploring different art techniques, medium, and styles.

Art Explosion will allow youngsters to paint, draw, using mixed media and more, starting Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Lathrop Community Center, 15557 5th St.

Cost is $65 per child.

Spots are limited.

Classes will be held each Wednesday at those times through Nov. 27.

Murder Mystery Luncheon

The Lathrop Senior Center, 15707 5th St., will host the Murder Mystery Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 30, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Cost for The Traveling Carnival – the Greatest Show for all seniors age 50 and older – is $5 (advance sales only, spaces are limited).

“Enjoy a fun luncheon that’s to die for – this bloody bazaar is full of fun twists,” said the City of Lathrop via social media on the murder mystery.

Calling All Veterans

The City of Lathrop is seeking names and contact information of local veterans to take part in a special event “honoring their service to our country.”

Gymnastic classes

Beginner and intermediate floor gymnastic classes are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Lathrop Senior Center.

Classes will be under the guidance of Vega’s Gymnastics.

Beginners are for those ages 6 through 12 on Monday (6:45 p.m.-7:45 p.m.) and twice on Wednesday (4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. / 6:45 p.m.-7:45 p.m.). Cost is $100 per month.

Intermediate sessions (ages 8-17) are scheduled on Monday (5:30 p.m.-6:40 p.m.) and Wednesday (5:30 p.m.-6:40 p.m.). Cost is $110 per month.
