Megan Peterson was officially appointed principal at Manteca High.
The Manteca Unified school board approved to have the interim title removed from her name.
She’s served as interim principal at the school since January, taking over from Frank Gonzales, who moved to the district office several months earlier to become Director II of Student Services.
“I am incredibly excited to continue to lead the Buffalo Family toward continued success,” said Peterson on proudtobemusd.
She added: “As I shift from interim to appointed principal, I look forward to further developing working relationships with our outstanding teaching and support staff to create new ways for all kids to grow.”
Peterson, who has spent the last 30 years in education, was an administrator at East Union High prior to moving over to MHS.
She began her professional career as a high school English teacher.
According to MUSD, Peterson, as a teacher, maintained various responsibilities, including serving as a coach, Activities Director, Accreditation Coordinator, and Department Chair.
At EU, she served as a Vice Principal for three years and an Assistant Principal for 18 years.
Peterson, in addition, has been an active member of the District's Quality Instruction for Student Achievement team, leading the English Department for nearly 20 years.
She also served on the District Negotiating team and the MUSD Reclassification Committee.
At MHS, her priority is “to ensure students not only achieve academically but can find their place and thrive,” Peterson noted.
