Marie Freitas will serve another term as Manteca Unified School District board president.
Her fellow trustees approved her for the post during Tuesday’s MUSD reorganization meeting.
Superintendent Clark Burke swore in four board members who were reelected in the Nov. 8 election. They were Freitas (Area 4), Kathy Howe (Area 2), Cathy Pope-Gotschall (Area 5), Stephen Schluer (Area 6). These trustees will serve another four-year term which expires 2024.
Accepting another term as Board Vice President was Melanie Greene while Stephen Schluer will continue as board clerk.
Trustees Freitas, Greene and Schluer will also serve as Manteca Unified’s executive committee. Collectively, the Board also voted for new appointments to committees and commission for the 2023 calendar year.
The following three Board Trustees will serve as members on the Committee for the Evaluation and Negotiation Process for Superintendent’s Contract: Schluer, Eric Duncan and Cathy Pope-Gotschall.
The following board trustees will serve as members (and one alternate member) on 2x2 Committees:
• City of Manteca 2X2 Committee: Howe and Pope-Gotschall (Freitas alternate) • City of Lathrop 2X2 Committee: Howe and Guerrero (Freitas alternate)
• City of Stockton 2X2 Committee: Duncan and Schluer (Howe alternate)
The following Board Trustees and Manteca Unified Administration will serve as Parks and Recreation Commissions Liaisons:
• Manteca Parks and Recreation Commission: Executive Director Clara Schmiedt (two-year; expires 2024), Director of Operations Aaron Bowers (two-year, expires 2023), and Director of Community Outreach Victoria Brunn (two-year, expires 2023)
• Stockton Parks and Recreation Commission: Trustee Eric Duncan
• Lathrop Parks and Recreation Commission: Trustee Howe
