The State Seal of Biliteracy can be beneficial in more ways than one.

For high school seniors, this could be attractive feature for college admissions and future employers.

And then there’s the recognitions.

The San Joaquin County Office of Education will honor some 817 students from throughout San Joaquin County on Wednesday, April 27.

They’ve met all the requirements of the award, including those from Manteca and Ripon unified school districts.

The MUSD and RUSD students will be joined by Lodi Unified at the 5:30 p.m. award ceremony at the Venture Academy Gymnasium on the SJCOE campus, 2814 Transworld Dr., Stockton.

Those from Stockton Unified, Escalon Unified, Lincoln Unified, Tracy Unified, Linden, Lammersville and Venture Academy will also be recognized that day – separate ceremonies will take place at 4 p.m. and 7 o’clock.

The State Seal of Biliteracy program recognizes high schoolers who have “attained a high level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing in one or more languages in addition to English,” according to SJCOE.

The SJCOE Language & Literacy Department is organizing the awards ceremony.
