Manteca Police Officer Ryan Castro, who was arrested on Monday, is facing multiple charges related to a sexual offense of an intoxicated person that allegedly occurred while he was off-duty, according to the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office.

Castro, 36, is facing charges of oral copulation of an intoxicated person, penetration by a foreign object on a victim who was drugged, and assault with intent to commit mayhem, rape, sodomy or oral copulation.

The alleged assault happened in Ripon and was investigated by the Ripon Police Department.

Castro is being held at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. His arraignment was postponed to 1:30 p.m. on Friday in San Joaquin County Superior Court.

The Manteca Police Department received notification this week that Officer Ryan Castro is under investigation by the Ripon Police Department for a May 1, 2024 incident that occurred while he was off-duty and outside the City of Manteca jurisdiction.

“With the criminal investigation now being completed and charges filed by the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, Officer Castro has surrendered himself to the San Joaquin County Jail,” said Manteca police via social media on Monday.

Police added: “We are now proceeding with our internal administrative process.”

Officer Castro has been employed with Manteca police since June 2018. Prior to that, he worked for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.
