Manteca, Lathrop open cooling centers due to high temp topping 100

Scorching triple-digit degrees temperatures are once again in the forecast for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service office in Sacramento.

That means sunny and hot with a high of 105 degrees for today (Friday), a high of 104 on Saturday, and about 100 on Sunday.

The City of Lathrop will once again offer Cooling Zones from noon to 7 p.m., including the Lathrop Police Department’s Community Room at 940 River Islands Pkwy on Friday, and the lobby of the Community Center, 15707 Fifth St., on Saturday during the heat advisory.

The City of Manteca is also opening Cooling Zones for the next two days (Friday and Saturday) at the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Ln.

Those seeking refuge from the heat can stop by from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Saturday, July 29, the City of Manteca Recreation Department is hosting free swim day at the Lincoln Pool, 245 S. Lincoln Ave.
