Manteca further restricts downtown food trucks

No one will be allowed to have more than one food truck on their property in the downtown business district or park them on the street — except for the City of Manteca.

That is the gist of an update of Manteca’s ordinance that governs mobile food vendors that goes into effect by the end of March after it was approved last week by the City Council.

The new rules  for the downtown area include:

*Only property where there is a brewery or wine tasting room will be allowed to have food trucks.

*And in those cases they must be in the back of the primary building and not in any space — parking lot included — on the side or front of the building.

*At the same time,  mobile food vendors can’t park on the city street.

*The rules do not apply to the City of Manteca.

The ordinance already limits any private property throughout the city to a maximum of three food trucks.

Collectively, the city will not allow more than 30 food trucks to operate within the city limits at one time.

Again, the city has exempted itself from the restrictions which mean they could host a food truck event with more than 30 vendors if they so desired.
