The City of Manteca will celebrate “Go Skateboarding Day” on Saturday at the Manteca Skate Park.
Those looking to participate in skateboarding competitions Saturday must pre-register by Thursday at the Manteca Recreation office, 252 Magnolia Ave., and then show up at 8 a.m. on site during the day of the event.
The skate park is located north of West Center Street and Elm Avenue, just off the Tidewater Bikeway.
“Go Skateboarding Day” is a national sports holiday. Featured locally will be the inaugural skateboarding “Showdown” competition with the brand-new 16-foot rail at the skate park.
Helmets are required for all participants of the all-day event.
“Come to the Manteca skate park to join in on the fun – watch professional demos, participate in competitions, join our jam or our one-minute run,” said City of Manteca-Local Government via social media.
In addition, they’ll be food trucks, vendors, a DJ playing music, and children’s games and activities.

Juneteeth event Wednesday
A Juneteenth event is set for Wednesday, June 19, from 1 to 4 p.m.
The free event is taking place in the North Hall of the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry lane.
It will feature an art exhibit and an educational presentation being provided by senior center volunteers.
There will also be snacks and games.
Juneteenth is a holiday that commemorates when 250,000 slaves in the State of Texas were declared free by the us. Army on June 19, 1865.
Texas was the last bastion for slavery during the final days of the Civil War.
Music on Maple Thursday
Severe Thrill is providing the live music for the Thursday, June 20, Music on Maple event being staged by the Manteca Recreation & Community Services.
The event in the 100 block of Maple Avenue in downtown also features food trucks, vendors as well as children’s games and activities. The event starts at 6 p.m.
The music from the 2000s will range from Pop, and R&B to radio hits.
