Officer Matt Brodhag of the Ripon Police Department was recently recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for his efforts in enforcing the driving under the influence laws during the past year.

He was among the over 250 officers from 85 agencies in Northern California honored at the California Law Enforcement and Prosecutor Recognition Awards ceremony held July 16 in Citrus Heights.

Altogether, they accounted for more than 1,000 DUI and boating under the influence arrests in 2023.

Brodhag was nominated and received the MADD Award for making 14 solo DUI arrests while assisting in two other DUI arrest investigations, according to the Ripon Police Department via social media.

“In 2023, the Ripon Police Department made a total of 30 DUI-related arrests, making Officer Brodhag's contribution especially significant,” said local police.

Each year, MADD acknowledges the efforts of law enforcement personnel for their annual arrests of impaired driving arrests.
