LPD shaves average priority call response time by 86 seconds
Sealy
Lathrop Police Chief Sealy

The City of Lathrop Police Department just started up “Chief’s Corner.”

This social media video kicked off this week, with Chief Stephen Sealy providing an online format in keeping the community informed with his department in an effort to build trust and transparency.

For starters, Sealy noted that the average response time for all calls for service is currently 14 minutes, which is a 2 minutes and 40 seconds improvement from 2024 (16.40).

“For Priority 1 calls, we’ve reduced our response time to 4.42 minutes – down from 6.08 from last year,” he said.

Sealy added: “These reductions (in time) are a testament to our team’s dedication and efficiency.”

His other key points included:

• The Jan. 18 debut of the fully dedicated Traffic Unit consisting of one sergeant and one officer, with more joining soon.

• Five officers have been promoted to newly established corporal positions to enhance field supervision and to prepare them for future leadership roles. “Succession planning continues to be a priority as we invest in developing the next generation of leaders to serve our community,” Sealy said.

• The department is looking to expand community programs such as the Volunteer Program and the Police Explorer Program.
