richter
Lathrop police Officer Myles Richter just completed the 80-hour POST Basic Motor School.

The Lathrop Police Department on Wednesday arrested the  driver of a Dodge Charger.

A vehicle stop occurred that evening – at about 10:46 – in the area of Lathrop Road and Harlan Road while officers were patrolling the area.

‘They conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Charger for California Vehicle Code violation,” Lathrop police said via social media.

It was then that officers discovered that the driver had an unregistered loaded firearm under his seat.

He was subsequently arrested for several weapons violations and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

New motorcycle officer

The City of Lathrop Police Department welcomed a new officer and celebrated the accomplishment of another officer.

Officer Myles Richter is part of the department’s dedicated Traffic Unit.

Local police announced via social media Monday that he had successfully completed the POST Basic Motor School – that’s the certified motorcycle training courses offered at law enforcement agencies as well as regional training centers.

“This intense 80-hour course is a significant accomplishment and a key step toward the launch of our dedicated Traffic Unit,” said local police in appreciation to Richter’ hard work and commitment.

On Tuesday, Lathrop police introduced Officer Jonathan Syler, who has five years of experience at the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department.

“We’re excited to have him bring his skills and knowledge to our department,” police said.
