The Lathrop Police Department is looking for information the public may have about an attempted murder on Tuesday evening in River Islands.
According to the agency, reports came in at around 5 p.m. of gunshots near the area of Bach and Mulholland Drives in River Islands, and when officers responded they not only able to determine that several shots had been fired at a victim, but that the entire incident was captured on a nearby surveillance camera.
Using the information gleaned from the investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect – whose name was not released by the agency – and began working with the Stanislaus County Sherriff’s Office, who contacted the victim, and the Fremont Police Department to author the warrants necessary to take the suspect into custody.
The suspect was arrested without incident on Wednesday morning, and is being charged with attempted homicide and shooting at an occupied dwelling.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Lathrop Police Detective Valdivia via email at mvaldivia@ci.lathrop.ca.us or by phone at 209.647.6407 and reference Case No. 2023-2970.
