‘Little Women, The Musical’ is play based on the life of Louisa May Alcott.
It follows the adventures of the March sisters – Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy – as they grow up during the Civil War.
“My dream was to play ‘Jo,’” said Megan Bos, who performed this very play during her high school days at Ripon Christian.
The recent graduate of California State University, Monterey Bay is getting to do just that as ‘Jo’, a character she says has many layers. “As ‘Jo,’ I get to play someone with a range of emotions,” Bos said on Tuesday.
‘Little Women, The Musical’ is a production of Cornerstone Community Theater, with three performances scheduled for this weekend.
Opening night is Friday at 7 o’clock. Performances for both Saturday and Sunday will be at 4 p.m.
Tickets are $20 for preferred seating and $15 for general admission, and can be purchased online at www.cornerstonemanteca.com/theater.
Cornerstone Community Theater is located at 10948 S. Airport Wy, Manteca.
Dylan Owens is no stranger to Cornerstone Community Theater. The RC senior has been performing there since he was age 7 (his first play was Seussical, The Musical in 2014).
“I have a passion for the theater,” said Owens, who has a dual role as Laurie Laurence and, in the flashback, Rodrigo.
Shim Lacy is back at the Cornerstone Community Theater, playing the antagonist Aunt March. “I also played the antagonist is last year’s production (Best Christmas Pageant Ever),” she said.
Lacy is anything but a villain in real life. She’s involved in various community endeavor including Manteca Youth Focus.
As for her role as Aunt March: “She has a power and is not afraid to speak her mind.”
The production team of ‘Little Women’ consists of Michealle Hoag as director / choreographer, Kristin Scott as vocal director, Bailey Dokoozlian-Harding as stage manager, Emilie Reese as the technical director, Becca Larsen as the costume coordinator, and Jerry Bradford handling the set construction.
Bos is joined by Alyssa Gutierrez (Meg), Tera Shearin (Amy), and Lily Haggerty (Beth) as the March sisters.
As Jo, Bos gets to tell the tale of her sisters and their journey to adulthood.
As a musical, ‘Little Women’ is described as a “moving experience, blending laughter, tears, and inspiration – the powerful score captures the joys, sorrows, and hope of young America finding its voice.”
Rounding out the cast are Judi Horton (Marmee March), Jeriah Marson (Professor Bhaer), Joseph Rykert (Mr. John Brooke / Knight), Doug Haggerty (Mr. Laurence), Mia Abellar (Mrs. Kirk), Layla McKennee (Clarissa), Ady Pineda (Braxton), Jessica Marson Camarena (Hag), and Raina Morris (Troll / Rodrigo 2).
