It’s that time of the year for the Ripon City Council’s annual reorganization session.
Elected leaders tonight will follow the Mayoral Selection ordinance, calling for a new mayor and vice mayor based on a yearly rotating basis.
According to the ordinance: “In non-election years, at the first City Council meeting in December of each year, the Council Members shall move seats to the next lowest number (i.e. the person placed in Seat 5 shall move to Seat 4, the person placed in Seat 4 shall move to Seat 3, etc.).”
By that, Leo Zuber, who served as vice mayor during the past year, is scheduled to take over as mayor for the upcoming year. Current Mayor Michael Restuccia will slide down to the No. 5 council seat, with Dean Uecker moving up to the No. 4 seat, and Gary Barton going to the No. 3 seat.
Daniel de Graaf will then slide over to the No. 2 seat or rather the vice mayor position.
“The designated Mayor and Vice Mayor must be queried to accept or decline the positions,” the ordinance said.
The monthly session will begin at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber, 259 N. Wilma Ave.
In other agenda items:
· Fleet Maintenance Facility Project – Council members are scheduled to approve a change order to the city’s currently-under-construction corporate yard. Included were some additional grading and paving along with restroom wall tile changes, fixture credit, and doorframe and hardware changes.
