Lathrop steps up patrols In DUI enforcement effort
DUI

The City of Lathrop Police Department will be out in force during the holidays.

From now through New Year’s Day, local police along with additional officers will be on the lookout for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

This high-visibility enforcement effort is part of a national campaign – ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.’

“During the holiday season, we see families and loved ones coming together to celebrate, and our goal is to make sure everyone gets home safely,” said Sgt. Chris Ly in a recent press release.

He added: “Impaired driving isn’t just dangerous – it’s illegal. Let’s make this a joyful and safe holiday season for everyone on the road.

“We urge people to act responsible and plan a sober ride home.”

The latter calls for scheduling a ride or designating a sober driver for those consuming alcohol during the holidays.

Funding for ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safe through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
