The Lathrop Police Department recently announced the launching of a dedicated Traffic Unit.

This specialized team consisting of three full-time officers and a sergeant is expected to make its debut as early as the end of this month.

Local police, thus far, have been conducting traffic enforcement between other calls.

However, a dedicated Traffic Unit will now be able to focus on the following:

• Education – Officers can engage and promote safe driving habits with the community.

• Engineering Collaboration – They’ll work with city planning to enhance road safety measures.

• Enforcement – Officers can uphold traffic laws to ensure safer streets for all.

“With Lathrop’s rapid growth, this initiative underscores our commitment to the safety and well-being of our residents,” police said Tuesday via social media.
