The Lathrop Police Department will be kicking off ‘Chief’s Corner’ later this month via social media.
During this time, Police Chief Stephen Sealy will provide updates straight from his department. Stay tuned.
Since becoming fully operational on June 2022, the Lathrop Police Department has expanded its force, with recruitment efforts being ongoing by adding more officers to better serve and protect the community, police said via social media on Tuesday.
They’ve developed a dedicated traffic unit, complete with additional motorcycles that’s set to launch at end of this month to address traffic concerns in key areas in Lathrop.
Police have managed to improve on response times.
“We’ve reduced response times for average calls from 18:58 in 2023 to 13:19 minutes, and emergency all response times have improved by 50 percent (10 minutes in 2023 to 5 minutes in 2024) thanks to proactive policing and staying visible in the community,” said police.
The use of drones as first responders have also helped in reducing response times while providing officers with vital information prior to their arrival on the scene.
According to Sealy, his department recorded 642 arrests, which includes a 3 percent increase in the Clearance Rate – this is percentage of reported crimes that were “cleared” or solved by police – in 2024.
His plans for the upcoming year are to continue his community engagement and growth along with focusing on crime prevention and officer visibility.
