The City of Lathrop Police reported arrested a suspect with help from a K9 and allied agencies early Saturday morning on various charges including drugs.
Local police responded to reports of suspicious activity at a housing development that’s currently under construction.
“As officers arrived, a vehicle sped away from the area driving recklessly. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over,” said Lathrop police via social media.
They pursued the vehicle into Manteca, where the driver ditched the car and fled on foot.
With help from allied agencies, a perimeter was set up, with Lathrop K9, Kane, being deployed to track down the suspect.
“Kane successfully located the suspect hiding in a wooded area and the suspect was taken into custody,” police said.
Inside the vehicle, officers recovered suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and shaved keys used in vehicle theft.
The suspect was book into San Joaquin County Jail and his vehicle was impounded.
