Want to know what’s going on in your neighborhood?

The Lathrop Police Department has got you covered.

The agency – which launched earlier this year as the first standalone department in the city’s history of more than three decades – announced on Wednesday that it had recently launched an interactive crime map on its website.

The map can be accessed by visiting www.ci.lathrop.ca.us/police/page/crime-map.

Once users access the map they have the choice of how many days they want to go back into the police logs – one, three, or seven-day options exist – or they can input date ranges to get a more complete look of crime and police activity across the city.

By inputting a wide range of dates users can access data that allows for a heat map – showing the concentration of police calls across the city – that can show hot spots for crime or police activity depending on the settings selected.

Users can also filter in or out specific types of data like the types of calls that will be displayed on the map, or the individual crimes that are being displayed on the map – allowing for residents to dive into where things are happening in the community that they call home.

The Ripon Police Department – which provides dispatch services for the City of Lathrop as well as evidence processing and storage – uses a Google platform to display its crime maps. The City of Manteca doesn’t have an interactive map available through its police department page but does publish monthly crime reports that detail police activity and provides an annual comparison to help illustrate trends.
