The City of Lathrop Police Department reported an arrest of one individual in possession of illegal fireworks.
Officer G. Embers-Harding and Corporal Daniel Beringer were praised by their “outstanding, proactive” police work in the recent vehicle stop.
It’s there they came across 1,815 pounds of illegal fireworks along with 72 homemade explosives, local police said via social media on Monday.
“We’re grateful for the timely and professional response from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordinance Division and the Lathrop-Manteca Fire District, who assisted in safely securing these dangerous materials,” Lathrop police added.
They’ll remain committed to ensuring a safe and lawful celebration is maintained, heading into the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.
Officers will also continue to enforce all applicable laws related to illegal fireworks and explosives.
