Lathrop offers series of dog obedience classes

The City of Lathrop is once again offering Dog Obedience classes beginning next week.

Sessions will run from September through October under the instructions of Bone-A-Fide Dog Training.

Cost per session is $140.

The classes are as followed:

·         Puppy 1 (between 12 to 18 weeks) – The first of the two sessions will run each Tuesday, from Sept. 10 through Oct. 15, at the Lathrop Community Center, 15557 Fifth St., beginning at 6:30 p.m. The second session (same times, locations) will go from Oct. 29 through Nov. 26. Each puppy will learn how to safely socialize.

·         Puppy 2 (between 18 to 24 weeks) – These sessions is offered on Mondays at the Community Center, from Sept. 9 through Oct. 14, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The next session will take place from Oct. 28 through Dec. 2. The puppy will learn to enjoy being held and handled.

·         Basic Dog Obedience / Canine Good Citizen – The first of the five-week course is scheduled each Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m., from Sept. 21 through Oct. 19, at the Lathrop Generations Center Amphitheater. The next session will run from Oct. 26 through Nov. 23. Owners can learn how to provide basic commands, using voice control.

·         Advanced Dog Obedience / Canine Good Citizen – These 6:30 p.m. Thursday classes will take place at the Generations Center Amphitheater, from Sept. 12 through Oct. 10. This is also an opportunity for owners to work on their dog’s manner and obedience, especially on distracting situations.
