Lathrop offers 7 ways to workout via city rec classes

The City of Lathrop Parks and Recreation Department is offering a variety of workout classes for those with fitness goals in 2025.

Included are classes in dance, tennis, and Zumba, and other cardio / dance fitness as well as Yoga.

Here’s a few details of the classes:

• BOLLY X with Summy – Bolly X is a Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness program that combines choreography and cardio with upbeat music. The class, held every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the Lathrop Senior Center, 15707 5th St., is open to those age 18 and older. Cost is $70 per month.

• Zumba Fitness / Boxercise – Both classes will be held in Lathrop Community Center, 15557 5th St. Zumba Fitness is scheduled Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, beginning at 9:15 a.m. (Cost is $40 per month, $10 drop in). Boxercise will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 9:10 a.m. (Cost is $60 per month, $15 drop in). This class is high-intensity fitness using boxing as part of the aerobic workout.

• Footwork & Grace – This is the beginner’s guide to Kuchipudi, using basic steps, hand posture and body movements. Classes will be held at the Lathrop Community Center, 15557 5th St., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and is open to those age 5 and older. Cost is $60 for each session or $20 for drop in per class.

• Fitness in the Park – The class held Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. at Valverde Park, 15557 5th St., is designed to improve fitness, coordination, strength and posture with an experienced trainer in an outdoor setting. Open to those age 18 and older. Cost is $50 per week, $75 for two days a week, or $15 per drop in.

• Yoga for the Mind, Body & Soul – Each class, as taught by Sarah Elena, will promote peaceful practice via reflective and meditative awareness. Sessions are held on Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Valverde Park Amphitheater, 15557 5th St. Open to those age 18 and older. Cost is $50 per month, $15 drop in.

• Tennis Classes – Adult beginners (individuals age 18 and older) can learn the basics of the sport by NextGen certified coaches. The first session is scheduled each Saturday (Jan. 4 through Feb. 1) from 11 a.m. to noon at Apolinar Sangalang Park, 13470 Slate St. Cost is $100 for the five-week session. Adult Cardio (session is scheduled each Saturday, from Jan. 4 through Feb. 1) will consists of high energy using a combination of tennis drills and cardio. No experience is need with all fitness levels welcome. Open to individuals age 18 and older. Cost is $120 per five-week session.
