Lathrop offering tennis, puppy training plus more

The City of Lathrop will soon be offering dog training classes.

Registration for both dogs and puppies are now being taken for the five-week sessions – cost is $140 for each session.

Included will be Puppy 1 (between 12-18 weeks), which will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Lathrop Community Center, from Oct. 29 through Nov. 26.; Puppy 2 (between 18-24 weeks) is scheduled Mondays beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center, 15557 5th St., from Oct. 28 through Dec. 2; and Basic Dog Training / Canine Good Citizen at 9:30 a.m. Saturdays at the Lathrop Generations Center, 450 Spartan Wy., from Oct. 26 through Nov. 23.

“Work with your dog on basic commands and responding to voice control – work on your dog’s manner,” said the City of Lathrop via social media on Thursday.

Tennis classes

Whether it’s about exploring a new hobby or for cardio, the City of Lathrop is offering tennis classes for adults.

The beginner classes (ages 18 and older) will be under the instructions of NextGen Sports and its certified coaches at Apolinar Sangalang Park, 13470 Slate St. on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to noon, from Nov. 2 through Dec. 7.

Cost is $100 per the five-week session.

The Adult Cardio classes will also be held during this time, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Tennis Court 1 at Sangalang Park. Cost is $120 for the five-week session.

Teen Halloween Party

A ‘Spook-tacular’ time is planned for this Friday at Lathrop Generations Center.

“Dress to impress and be prepared to ‘boo-gie’ to the beats of a live DJ on the dance floor,” said the City of Lathrop on social media. “You won’t want to miss the costume contest.”

The Teen Halloween Party at the LGC Grind will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is sponsored by the Youth Advisory Commission.

This Halloween Party is open to students in grades 7-12, and will also include food and games.

Cost for pre-registration is $10 or $15 at the door (space is limited).
