Lathrop High conducts ‘Respect the SHIELD’ rally

Lathrop High once again held its spring “Respect the SHIELD” rally.

This biannual event serves as a celebration of academic excellence along with Spartan Pride.

It was during this special Tuesday event that the school announced that Jasmeen Kaur and Erleen Mand will serve as co-valedictorians – the highest academic honor – during the upcoming graduation ceremony while Manpreet Bains will share the spotlight as salutatorian.

The “Respect the SHIELD” rally held in the gym honored students who GPAs of 4.0 or higher, 3.5 to 3.99, and 3.- to 3.49.

Gavin Miller and Susana Ibanez were recognized as this year’s Gold Shield Award winners – this prestigious honor goes to the LHS students who exemplifies LHS’s core values of Integrity, Engagement, Leadership, and Determination.

The school also honored Kristin Miller and Aron Lopez, who recently named MUSD’s Educators of the Year.

In addition, “Spartan Spotlight” celebrated students who achieved major accomplishments.

Included were those earning Industry Electrical Certifications, Honor Band, All-Northern Honor Band, and All-State Honor Band, coupled with the selected Sandia Women’s Connection – this is an award from Sandia National Laboratories for accomplishments in STEM and Health Careers of America.
