The City of Lathrop Police Department arrested a 42-year-old Stockton resident on an illegal firearm charge.

The incident occurred on May 22 during a traffic enforcement stop conducted by Officer Jonathan Syler in the area of South Harlan Road and East Louise Avenue.

“During the course of the investigation, an illegal firearm was discovered in the vehicle,” said local police.

The driver was taken into custody without incident.

Lathrop police, in coordination with the Office of Traffic Safety, also conducted a traffic enforcement on May 19 with the focus on ensuring pedestrian safety near schools and other high traffic areas.

Their efforts led to 15 traffic enforce stops, six traffic citations, one reckless driving arrest, and one impounded vehicle.
