The last storms of 2024 may drop as much as 1.25 inches of rain in Manteca, Ripon, and Lathrop.

The two back-to-back events — one today and Friday then Sunday — could blanket the Sierra crest with as much as 18 inches of snow.

The heaviest rain on the valley floor will be between today and Friday.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for between a half an inch and an inch of rain.

Sunday will be a lighter rain with between 0.10 and 0.25 inches falling.

The snowpack at Sonora Pass on Highway 108 at 9,623 feet was 27 inches as of Wednesday. That is 93 percent of normal for Dec. 25.

The storms follow the weather service’s release earlier this month of the water year to date for Northern California and Central California.

Measurements for the first two months for the water year (October and November) include:

*Water Year precipitation totals ranged from 100% to 200%+ of normal through November for areas along and north of I-80.

*Below to near normal precipitation (50-90% of normal) was observed for areas south of I-80, including the Northern San Joaquin Valley and portions of the Sierra.

*Snowpack conditions are running well above normal for early December as several winter storms impacted the region

*The northern Sierra snowpack was at 206% of normal as of Dec. 4.
