The City of Ripon’s pick up of large, unwanted items concludes at the end of this month.

Director of Public Works James Pease made that announcement at Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting.

The last day to sign up for such items to be picked up is Sept. 26, according to the City’s newsletter for this month.

Services are for local residential utility customers – they must first fill out a form (click on to www.cityofripon.org) and await a confirmation number for the scheduled pickup day.

From there, they can place their unwanted items on the street in front of the curb by 7 a.m. of the scheduled pick-up day and no earlier than the day before.

The city website also provides acceptable items for the pickup program.

Not accepted are air conditioning units, bags of loose trash / any small items / cardboard / newspapers, batteries of any kind, chemicals or any types of liquid, commercial / construction material, concrete / asphalt / lumber / fencing of any kind, electronic waster / microwave oven / TVs, fluorescent light bulbs, glass items / mirrors / shower doors, hot tubs / spas, overweight items (safe, piano, etc.), refrigerators / freezers, tires / vehicle parts / truck or tractor tires, and yard waste / pruning / tree stump.
