Kaiser Permanente is committing to a $83.4 million expansion of its Manteca healthcare campus.
Aphriekah Duhaney-West, Kaiser Permanente’s Senior Vice President/Central Valley Area Manager, made the announcement during Thursday’s State of the City program staged by the Manteca Chamber of Commerce at Great Wolf Lodge.
The 27,000 square-foot expansion centers around the emergency room of the Manteca Hospital on West Yosemite Avenue.
It will increase the ER bays from 24 to 34 as well as allow expansion of support services.
Kaiser’s expansion will also include adding areas of medical specialties.
The health care system also will do extensive site work.
Kaiser obtained the hospital, previously known as St. Dominic’s Hospital, 27 years ago from Catholic Healthcare West.
Shortly afterwards, they added the health care offices and pharmacy on the east side of St. Dominic’s Drive.
Kaiser is also working on plans for a significant expansion of medical offices to further serve its rapidly growing membership in the fast growing Manteca-Lathrop area.
Thursday’s announcement came on the heels of Sutter Health opening larger medical offices in Manteca earlier this month.
Sutter’s new facilities are in a 17,000-square-foot free-standing building at Orchard Valley near JC Penney.
Sutter Health’s previous medical offices adjacent to Kaiser on St. Dominic’s Drive are being remodeled to allow expansion of its mental health services.
