Monday was the first day of the holiday break for Ignite Youth students of Cornerstone Community Church.
They were up and about that morning, delivering coffee mugs with gift cards and other goodies to the Manteca Police Department.
“We wanted to bless someone with gifts for the holidays,” said Youth Pastor Jakan Hoag, who brought nine Ignite members carrying 75 gift mugs valued at about $40 and made possible via donations along with a partnership with Chit Chat Café.
Police were especially grateful.
“It’s nice to see that appreciation from the community,” said Chief Mike Aguilar, who was joined by his command staff on this day. “It means a lot to us.”
Hoag noted that each year Ignite looks to provide donations during Christmas times to those who make a difference.
The gifts came with prayers shared by both parties.
Ignite thanked police for keeping the city and community safe.
“We (also) prayed for strength and health for the holidays,” Hoag said.
