Love Ripon is back.

The one-day event made up of volunteers from the community, engaging in a variety of projects is scheduled for Saturday morning, April 13, at the Ripon Community Center, 334 Fourth St.

“The event will begin with a rally,” said Love Ripon board member Joseph Laswell.

He and members of Love Ripon were in attendance at last Tuesday’s Ripon City Council to promote Love Ripon, which was a product of the success of Love Modesto in 2009.

Last year, Love Ripon was made up of 500 volunteers involved in 13 citywide projects.

“I think we can equal those numbers,” said Laswell, who is hoping for another strong turnout and similar results for 2019.

He also presented the second “I Love Ripon because...” banner to elected leaders and city officials for their efforts  in making the community what it is today.

“Some of the comments that were written on the banner included ‘everyone is so friendly,’ ‘the churches are great’ and ‘I love volunteering at the Ripon Library,’” Laswell added.
