Hit-and-run driver strikes Lathrop Police patrol unit; officer not seriously injured
LPD accident
A marked Lathrop police vehicle with an officer and K-9 Unit inside was sideswiped Monday, with the driver being arrested during the Monday evening incident.

The City of Lathrop Police Department and the California Highway Patrol arrested the driver of vehicle involved with a collision of police car.

“During a routine traffic stop, an uninvolved vehicle sideswiped a marked K-9 unit and fled the scene,” said local police via social media.

During the Monday evening incident, officers located the fleeing vehicle a few miles away. The driver was arrested and the vehicle was impounded.

Officer Vannack Sabou and his K-9 Jackie were not seriously injured in the collision, police reported.

The Lathrop Police Department thanked CHP officers for their quick response to the collision along with their assistance during the incident.

Officer Sabou was also involved in an incident that occurred days earlier.

Local police reported Friday the arrest of a woman in the area of River Islands Parkway and Dell’Osso Road on a stolen vehicle charge.

“Responding quickly, officers saturated the area, our own K-9 Officer Sabou located the vehicle – a felony vehicle stop was conducted and the suspect was safely detained and arrested,” police said.

They noted that the suspect, in a strange twist, said she was “door dashing” food to residents in the area, adding: “Thanks to the dedication of our officers, the residents received their deliveries – courtesy of the Lathrop Police Department.”
