Harvest fun underway at Manteca schools

The giant squid costume was a big hit at Friday’s Harvest Festival at Shasta School.

The 11th annual Harvest Festival at Shasta Elementary School Friday offered plenty for students and families.

The early evening pre-Halloween event featured a costume contest, scarecrow contest, raffle prizes and a variety of games hosted by the teachers.

“What also made it fun was that they got to see us (the teachers) outside of the classroom,” said Jennifer Beggs.

This was the fourth year that Beggs, a Resources Specialist Teacher, spearheaded Harvest Festival, a longstanding tradition at the school.

The previous day, Shasta students enjoyed the pumpkin patch experience.

They’ll get to keep it going come Halloween with the Costume Parade planned that day from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
