GUNFIRE
Gunshots fired in 5 locations Sunday morn in Manteca
bullet casings

The Manteca Police Department is currently trying to find surveillance footage that might give them a lead after a cluster of gunshots were reported in a variety of locations early Sunday morning.

The initial call, which came in at 1:12 a.m., resulted in the discovery of 9mm shell casings and several bullet homes in a vacant home on Willow Ave. Six minutes later, at 1:18 a.m., another call came in about gunshots on Cherrywood Place – on the other side of town – and at 2:12 a.m. they received another call about shots fired on the 1800 block of E. Yosemite Ave.

Another call came in at 2:35 a.m. about shots fired at the 500 block of Sequoia Ave. – where shell casings were recovered, but no vehicles or properties were apparently hit – and at 2:38 a.m. another call came in about gunshots at the intersection of Austin Road and Yosemite Avenue.

The police are asking anybody who may live in any of those areas who notices damage to their home or finds shell casings in the area to contact Manteca Police so that they can try and piece together what happened – whether one car was responsible for the unusual cluster of calls or if there were multiple parties involved.

Police are also asking anybody who may have a security camera of the areas affected – either a traditional, house-mounted camera or a Ring-style doorbell app that may have captured something – that may have captured something to bring that footage to the Manteca Police Department for further investigation.

Officers are specifically looking for information about a white, older, 4-door sedan that they believe may have had something to do with the calls and are requesting any potential license information that somebody may have matching a vehicle of that type in those vicinities at that time.

Anybody with any information that may be beneficial to the investigation is encouraged to contact the Manteca Police Department at 209.239.8401.
