EU staging musical today & tonight

Two encore performances are scheduled today for the musical ‘Grease’ at the East Union High Playbox Theatre.

The cast stars Owen Minderler as Danny and Jadyn Snaer as Sandy in this production written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.

A 2 p.m. matinee along with a 7 o’clock encore of ‘Grease’ will take place at the on-campus theater at 1700 N. Union Road.

Tickets are $8 for general admission.

Annette Taser, who is the Visual & Performing Arts chair Annette Taser, is the director.

“Be ready to welcome back the Rydell High Class of ’59,” she said. “This production invites our audience to come in ‘50s attire.”

Prizes will be given out at intermission for best costume.

Members of the East Union faculty will perform alongside the musical theatre ensemble and choir, including teachers Kim Ray and Khalil Abou-Hamad, to name a few.

Among the cast members are Lydia Lumley (Rizzo), Zoey Clift (Frenchy), Kayla McConnell (Marty), Suzi Dias (Jan), Juan Loya Padilla (Kenickie), Michael (Doody), Jem Ornelas (Roger) and Joseph Galapon (Sonny).

‘Grease’ opens with the reunion of the Rydell Class of 1959.
