Lathrop’s newest grocery store is set to formally open its doors early next month.
Sprouts Farmer’s Market – which is located at 16756 Golden Valley Parkway – will hold a special ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Feb. 3, at 6:35 a.m. before formally welcoming the public into the store at 7 a.m.
The store is at the Lathrop Marketplace complex anchored by Target on the southwest corner of Interstate 5 and Louise Avenue.
And given Lathrop’s position as one of the fastest-growing cities in California, officials are excited about adding more amenities for residents to enjoy.
“The City of Lathrop is proud to welcome Sprouts Farmers Market to our community,” Lathrop Mayor Sonny Dhaliwal said about the announcement. “As one of the fastest growing cities in California, attraction of new retailers to keep up with consumer demand is key.
“Quality stores like Sprouts are highly desired by the community and we are excited they chose Lathrop as their new home.”
From Friday, Feb. 3 through Sunday, Feb. 5, guests will be treated to a variety of festivities. Friday and Saturday the first 200 shoppers will receive a free ‘Goodness it’s Free’ reusable bag filled with samples.
A ‘New for You’ sampling station will treat guests to new products and a seasonal produce station will highlight seasonal citrus with samples. Kids games, live music, demonstrations, and more will also be enjoyed throughout the opening weekend.
In addition, customers who text “LATHROP” to 777-688 will receive 20% off their purchase when they scan their app account barcode at checkout.
Through the app, shoppers can view Sprouts’ weekly ad and save more than $100 with digital coupons on grocery staples and new items every month.
Shoppers can look forward to seeing locally produced products line the shelves including fresh fruits and vegetables from G&M Farms, Inc., George Perry and Sons Inc., and A&A Organic Farms. Look for the blue tag highlighting that a product is local.
Through Sprouts’ Food Rescue program, the new store will donate groceries that are no longer fit for sale but remain perfectly edible and nutrient rich to Second Harvest of the Greater Valley an organization based in Manteca that’s committed to fighting hunger by providing and distributing food to those in need.
This location will be open daily from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. For more information visit sprouts.com/lathrop
For years Lathrop residents had only the old Delta Market on Louise Avenue to purchase their groceries until Save Mart came to Lathrop as the anchor of a new retail shopping center at Harlan and Lathrop Roads.
Since that grocery store opened in 2005 Lathrop has nearly tripled in size and is expected to continue growing for years to come – opening the door for the city to receive the retail offerings that traditionally had been reserved only its neighbors.
The Lathrop location will be the third in the Northern San Joaquin Valley for the Arizona-based company, which already operates stores in both Lodi and Modesto. Sprouts Farmer’s Market is known for offering a range of natural and organic foods including fresh produce, meat and seafood, bulk goods, vitamins and supplements, and other health-based products for health-conscious consumers.
Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Sprouts currently operates 380 stores across 23 states and employs 31,000 team members. According to the company, it is one of the fastest-growing specialty retailers specializing in fresh, natural, and organic food, and additional information can be found out about the company by visiting its website at about.sprouts.com.
