Summer fun is just around the corner thanks to the Manteca Recreation & Community Services Department.
*Saturday, July 29, is the free open swim day at Lincoln pool complete with contests and more.
*Tuesday, Aug. 1, are the citywide National Night Out block parties.
*Saturday, Aug. 5, it’s the free Manteca Park-A-Palooza at Woodward Park.
That is on top of a full offering of organized recreation programs including swim lessons.
Free open swim day is from noon to 5 p.m. at Lincoln Pool on Powers Avenue across from the fire station.
There is a free swimming ability test and water safety demonstration from noon to 1 p.m. That is followed from 1 to 2 p.m. with relay games and lifeguard demonstrations.
Then from 2 to 5 p.m., its free open swimming with free treat packages for kids as long as the supplies last.
There will also be an opportunity to get a photo with Parky, Manteca’s park mascot.
The event is free and open to all ages.
The National Night Out endeavor — a citywide event encouraging neighborhood block parties to get people to know each other so they will be more likely to take part inefforts to keep neighborhoods safe — takes place the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 1.
Those that register in advance will have city officials — council members to firefighters to police and others — assigned to drop in on their gatherings.

The free Manteca Park-a-Palooza takes places Saturday, Aug. 5, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Woodward Park.
It will feature live music, food trucks, children’s activities, vendors, and more.
The Manteca band Ronnie Joy & PJ will be first up followed by Rachel Steel and Road 88.
Rachel Steele is known for her nonstop Country/Pop/Rock high energy medleys.
Steel and her band Road 88 have opened for countless artists such as Brad Paisley, Travis Tritt, Big & Rich, Alabama, Wynona, The Oakridge Boys, Trace Atkins, and more.
The event is co-sponsored by the Manteca Chamber of Commerce.

Swim lessons are available
Manteca Recreation & Community Services is conducting registration for the two more swim lesson sessions at Lincoln Pool located on Powers Avenue across from the fire station.
Group lessons are offered on nine different skill levels with five programs designed for those 6 and older as well as four younger age specific programs for those nine months to three years, three to five years, four to six years, and six to 13 years.
There is also adaptive lessons for those with special needs.
The two remaining sessions are one week sessions Monday through Thursday July 31-Aug. 3 and Aug. 7-10 in the evenings. They have prorated fees of $38 for city residents and $48 for non-city residents.
Registration for upcoming sessions closes at 6 p.m. the prior Thursday of the session you want your child in.

Lincoln Pool, 245 S. Powers Ave., is offering open swim through July 30 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. There are no open swim sessions for other days of the week.
Friday hours are from noon to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8:50 p.m. Hours on Saturdays and Sundays hours are noon to 5 p.m.
Lap swimming sessions are set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday through July 30.
The cost is $2 for youth 4 to 7 and those 62 and older. Adults 18 to 61 are $3.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Admission is $2 for youth 4 to 17, $3 for adults 18 to 61, $2 for seniors 62 and up while children under 4 are free.
Manteca adding Pup Pool
Party among aquatic offerings
A Pup Pool Party is planned for Saturday, Aug, 19.
The pool is being reserved for dogs to go for a swim and cool off.
Lifeguards will be on duty. Children must be accompanied by adults. Owners may enter free of charge.
Registration by Aug. 17 is required.
