Ripon Fire, four other agencies, contain fire

The Ripon Consolidated Fire District and other agencies worked to put out a vegetation fire along the Stanislaus River, just outside of Caswell State Park, on Friday.

The Ripon Consolidated Fire District responded Friday to a fire along the Stanislaus River.

The incident occurred on about three-quarters of an acre of overgrown vegetation just outside the boundaries of Caswell State Park, south of Moncure Road.

The area is west of Ripon and south of Manteca.

Firefighters were quick to initiate suppression efforts to contain the spread of the blaze.

But due to density of the vegetation coupled with challenging access to the area, they found that distinguishing this fire required a concerted effort – thanks went out to the Manteca Fire Department, Lathrop-Manteca Fire District, Escalon Consolidated Fire Protection District, and the French Camp-McKinley Fire District for their invaluable assistance – throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

And even with fire having been fully extinguished, the Ripon Consolidated Fire District maintained a presence in the area, conducting regular checks for residual hotspots while preventing re-ignition of the fire.

RCFD, meanwhile, asked that the public remain vigilant during elevated fire danger conditions and to report any signs of wildfires immediately to authorities.
