For the past two years, Marisela Herrera, Michael Magana and Natalie Perez Barajas maintained straight A’s or perfect 4.0 grade point averages.
For their efforts, they shared the honor of valedictorians at Tuesday’s eighth-grade commencement exercises at Sequoia Elementary School.
The Manteca Unified promotional event was held outside of the multi-purpose building.
Classmate Jaiden Freitas opened the ceremony by leading in the Pledge of Allegiance as well as welcoming those in attendance.
Principal Suzanne McCreath recognized those with gold cords or rather the top academic students and, along with the district’s Chief Business Officer Jacqui Breitenbucher, announced the various award winners.
