Entries double for Manteca’s July 4 parade
4th parade
Crowds line the route of a previous Fourth of July in Manteca.

The coolest place to be Tuesday when the high is expected to reach 96 degrees is in the street after the Manteca Fourth of July parade passes by.

That’s because bringing up the rear will be the Manteca Fire Department’s hose brigade.

In what has become a Manteca Fourth of July tradition, firefighters will go between fire hydrants pulling a hose cart, rolling out the hose, and then charging the nozzle sending water skyward to allow kids  — and the young-at-heart — to take an get an impromptu soaking in the middle of Main and Center streets.

This year’s Fourth of July oared promises to be double the fun of last year.

That’s because the Sunrise Kiwanis have 50 entries, twice the number of last year’s independence Day procession.

This year’s theme is “A Celebration Honoring Service in the Community”.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. It will go down Main Street from Golden West School.  It then turns right to head west to Library Park where it will disperse.

Rotary breakfast
