South County residents will have an opportunity to ride in at least three different plug- in electric vehicles at the Drive Electric Earth Day Electric Vehicle Expo planned for Saturday, April 1, from, 1 to 4 p.m. at the Manteca Bass Pro Shops parking lot
The annual free event allows people to see, ride in, and drive electric vehicles as well as have their questions answered from those who drive them.
There will also be related exhibits.
Among the plug-in electric vehicles (EV) on display will be the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Ford F-150 Lightning, Ford Focus Electric, Hyundai KONA Electric, Rivian R1T, Tesla Model 3. Tesla Model Y, Volkswagen e-Golf, and others.
Rides in EVs will be offered including the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Model 3, and Volkswagen e-Golf.
Exhibits include Artisan Electrical & HVAC, City of Manteca, Environmental Justice Coalition for Water, Environmental Justice Project, Radius Energy, San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, Sierra Club, Valley Improvement Projects , and Watts Electrical Services.
The event is being sponsored by the Electric Auto Association San Joaquin Valley.
It is one of more than 100 chapters of the Electric Vehicle Association.
The volunteer organization is working to accelerates the adoption of electric vehicles as members educate their communities about the benefits of driving electric.
