The City of Lathrop Police Department handle an incident that was initially a domestic dispute Thursday but then turned into a hit-and-run and pursuit, to finally an arrest.
Local police responded to a domestic violence call in the River Islands community.
“While officers were investigating, the suspect returned and fled in a vehicle, striking a parked patrol car,” said the Lathrop Police Department via social media on Friday.
Officers then began a pursuit. They did so while carefully balancing the need to stop a violent suspect but with the safety of the community in mind.
“Our pursuit policies (along with) active supervision and officers’ good judgement all play a key role in making these tough decisions,” police added.
The pursuit came to a conclusion when the suspect lost control and crashed into a home.
“Thankfully, no one was hurt,” said police.
The suspect was safely taken into custody and arrested on several charges, including felony evading, domestic battery, DUI, and hit and run.
