Steve Dresser displays his Oath of Office proclamation.

Stephen Dresser was appreciative on his appointment to the Lathrop City Council.

It’s a two-year provisional term that expires during the next general election in 2026.

Prior to the closed session at Monday’s monthly session, Dresser was administered the oath of office by City Clerk Teresa Vargas.

Dresser didn’t miss a beat as he took his place alongside his colleagues – Diane Lazard, Minnie Diallo, Vice Mayor Jennifer Torres-O’Callaghan, and Mayor Paul Akinjo – getting involved in events of the January meeting.

It was for that reason he was appointed last week by elected leaders, based on his experience of previously serving on the council.

Dresser had served three terms – including a stint as mayor pro tem – on the Lathrop City Council coupled with five years on the Planning Commission.

He was on the Manteca / Lathrop Library Taskforce and San Joaquin County Library Taskforce.

His other endeavors involved being on the Integrated Waste Committee, Delta Protection Committee, and the Mental Health Services Committee, and has a long list of being involved in various service organizations in the area.

Dresser retired from Pacific Bell in 2001 after 32 years, and subsequently worked at Escalon Unified and the Jefferson Elementary School District, spending time in the classrooms while also serving as the Technology Coordinator.
