Double right turn from Vyn Ryn to Industrial will ease congestion
city manteca logo

The potholes and cracked pavement are gone from Van Ryn Avenue at Industrial Park Drive.

And now the re-striping of the new pavement is expected to ease chronic congestion issues at the intersection.

City crews removed the median on Van Ryn Avenue to accommodate two westbound lanes approaching Industrial Park Drive.

The curb lane is dedicated to right turns only.

The other lane will be allowed to turn right as well as left.

The change is expected allow to traffic back-ups to clear quicker after trains pass the Industrial Park Drive crossing.

It is normal for traffic to back up as far as the 120 Bypass overcrossing.

And when trains are parked temporarily on the railroad siding to let other trains pass, at certain times of the day the traffic back up almost reaches Atherton Drive.

It also will help traffic flow better on school mornings.

Roughly half of the students enrolled at Manteca High live south of the 120 Bypass with Van Ryn being the primary route to the campus on Moffat Boulevard.

The city also added a dedicated right turn only lane for northbound Industrial Park Drive in a bid to eliminate any confusion.

City crews are knocking off the worst segments of Spreckels Avenue-Industrial Park Drive.

So far, they have completed five segments.

There are plans to tackle Spreckels Avenue south of Yosemite Avenue in the coming months.

The city expects to save at least hundreds of thousands of dollars taking a piecemeal in-house approach.

More importantly, they are able to address problematic pavement significantly sooner given if they went out to bid they’d have to take three to five years to accumulate the money which would require pushing back other needed street pavement work.
