Tracee Franks and Sean Brown are the newest Manteca Unified administrators.

Franks is the Director of Nutrition Education while Brown is MUSD’s Coordinator of Equity & Access,

Franks is a product of Manteca Unified schools, having attended Brock Elliott Elementary and Sierra High.

She has served the MUSD community since 2007 in various roles, including Nutrition Services Assistant, Budget Technician, Nutrition Services Supervisor, and Fiscal Accounting Supervisor.

“I am deeply committed to the well-being and success of every student in the Manteca Unified School District, and I am eager to leverage my experience, expertise, and passion for nutrition to further advance Manteca Unified’s Nutrition Education program,” Franks said.

Franks earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from Western Governors University following studies at Modesto Junior College and Fresno Pacific University. For the past 3 years, Franks has worked as the Coordinator of Nutrition Services.

The Director of Nutrition Education oversees the district-wide food service program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

They establish standards for efficient, sanitary, and nutritious service, researching purchases and contracts. Additionally, they determine staffing needs, oversee personnel, serve as a resource for nutrition education in the classroom, and monitor financial activity to ensure budget adherence.

Looking ahead, Franks is  dedicated to increasing scratch cooking initiatives, fostering partnerships to procure more local produce for use in school meals, and enhancing offerings in all meal services.

By prioritizing these objectives, she aims to further elevate the nutritional quality and diversity of meals offered to our students, promoting their overall health and well-being.

Brown joins MUSD from Tracy Unified School District where he served as the Director of Special Education.

Before his tenure in Tracy, he worked in Oakley Union Elementary School District as a principal, coordinator of student services, program specialist, and special education teacher.

Brown brings over 25 years of experience in education, including years where he served in a nonpublic school setting, as an adolescent mental health counselor, and founder of a nonprofit youth mentor program.  He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from San Jose State University.

As he steps into his new role, Brown hopes to cultivate a safe and engaging learning environment for each student and build strong partnerships with educators, families, and community members.

“I am very excited and reinvigorated as this new chapter is aligned to my purpose in education and my life, Bown said. “It presents a great opportunity to further develop inclusive practices to support all students and educators as they navigate through barriers, so that children may achieve success and become responsible individuals.”

The Coordinator of Equity & Access is a district-wide leader and advocate for inclusion and need-based opportunity.

The department’s focus is on closing achievement gaps and ensuring underrepresented student needs are addressed in district plans to eliminate educational disparities.
