DeHart sworn in as Ripon Consolidated District’s fire chief

Eric DeHart was sworn in this week as Fire Chief of the Ripon Consolidated Fire District. He was joined by his family during the special event held at Ripon Fire Station 1.

The Ripon Consolidated Fire District swore-in Eric DeHart as the new fire chief on Monday.

He officially took over as the top position from the now retired Dennis Bitters, who was recognized at the special event for his 42 years of distinguished service – he was presented with a plaque from Sheri Coburn, chairperson of the fire district’s Board of Directors.

DeHart previously served as the fire chief for the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire District.

The Ripon Consolidated Fire District also promoted Chad Cheek and Brian Pratt.

Both firefighters / EMTs moved up to the rank of Engineers.

 In addition, Marcus Rivas and Tyler Dunn were sworn in as firefighter / EMT and firefighter / paramedic, respectively.

The Ripon Consolidated Fire District thanked San Joaquin County Board of Supervisor Robert Rickman for officiating over the event – he administered the swearing-in of the newly promoted – as well as the community and surrounding fire districts for their support.

The fire district provides fire protection and ambulance service to 22,000 residents within its 56 square mile coverage area.

Nearly 17,000 of those people reside in the City of Ripon per se.
