‘Debbie’ in American Graffiti’ at hot rod party

Actress Candy Clark, who played Debbie in the 1973 coming-of-age film American Graffiti, returns to Pete Paulsen’s 34th annual Hot Rod Party on Sunday.

Candy Clark is best known for her role as Debbie Dunham in George Lucas’ 1973 film classic American Graffiti.

In fact, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress that year at the Academy Awards.

Clark returns to the area this weekend as the special guest at Pete Paulsen’s Hot Rod Party.

The 34th annual event benefitting Bikes for Kids – a non-profit organization that provides refurbished bicycles to youngsters in need throughout the year while also promoting physical activity – will be held Sunday at the Paulsen Ranch in French Camp, 1504 W. Bowman Road, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost is $10 for spectators, $5 for seniors and military, and free for children age 10 and under accompanied by an adult.

“Every dollar raised will go directly towards purchasing and refurbishing bikes, ensuring that every child in our community has the opportunity to experience the joy riding,” Paulsen recently said.

The car show will feature all years American-made or powered vehicles – cost for registration is $45 on the day of the event, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. – with awards being distributed in the various categories.

The day will be filled with the sound of Rock ‘N Roll music by host DJ Johnny ‘T’ along with a variety of vendors, raffle prizes (both giant and 50/50), and food & drinks, with “The King of Bloody Mary’s Tim Wilson serving as bartender.

The Hot Rod Party will also have legendary customizer John D’Agostino as special guest.

In addition, the event will feature t-shirt artist Tom “The Giant” Nye, Tri-Tip by Fagundes Meats & Catering Inc., and World-Famous Hot Dogs.
